A harbor is described as being a place of refuge and safety; a place of protection. In the Strong's Concordance, #4231, "a harbor" is taken from a Hebrew word meaning "enclosed by the shore; a haven."
It is the heart's desire of this ministry to be just such a refuge for those who have been battered by the storms of life. We seek to be a safe haven of Holy Spirit-empowered counsel, ministry and restoration for those drawn to our shore. Psalm 107:28-30 provides a scriptural depiction of the ministry vision of Safe Harbor Ministries...
"Lord, help!" they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor."
The counseling staff of Safe Harbor Ministries uses educational knowledge, practical skills, and life experience in counseling practice, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to guide those seeking help and ministry toward a life of stability and peace.
